Bare Anatomy makes one thing. A rosemary and rice water spray you leave in, for the scalp and the lengths, in a formula short enough that you can check it yourself in about ten seconds.

Why it exists

The kitchen version works. It just does not keep.

People have been boiling rosemary and straining rice water at home for two years, and they are not wrong to — those two ingredients are the reason the category exists. The problem is everything around them. A jar of home-brewed rosemary water is good for a few days, it separates, it is impossible to apply evenly, and it grows things you cannot see. Bare Anatomy is the same two ingredients with the parts that make a product a product: it is stable, it sprays in a fine even mist, it keeps for the life of the bottle, and it is safe on skin. Nothing was added to make it more impressive. Things were added so it would last.

What we left out

The list is short on purpose.

Every one of these is in a leave-in somewhere on the shelf, and every one of them is easier to justify to a chemist than to a customer.

No alcohol

It is what makes a spray dry fast and a scalp tighten. Water does the first job without the second.

No added fragrance

It smells of rosemary because there is rosemary in it. Fragrance is the most common irritant in a leave-in and it is doing nothing for your hair.

No silicone, no mineral oil

Both make hair feel smoother immediately by coating it. Neither is absorbed, and both build up on the scalp.

No sulphates

Nothing here is meant to strip. This is a leave-in — it stays on.

One product

We are not planning a range.

There is one bottle and there is no second one coming to fix what the first one does not do. If the two ingredients that matter are in it at a strength that works, a range is a merchandising decision, not a formulation one.
